Footy24/7 Blog

Long time no blog

Haven't updated this much recently due to being stupidly busy and no major upgrades to talk of as such.

Some upgrades are on the way for different views (to just show headlines / teasers) to hopefully give a little more granular control etc.

The site is growing nicely naturally with traffic constantly increasing as is RSS/email subscribers (700+ to the main premiership feed)

Promotions and relegations

Firstly let's do the relegations. A few weeks back I had to remove Sheffield, Charlton and Watford from the teams on the right as they've been relegated from the Premiership

Whilst the links have been removed we will continue to pull in news stories and videos for these teams at the following URLs:

Footy24/7 v2 live

The second version of footy24/7 went live yesterday after only a few months of v1 ;)

If you didn't see v1 you can see it at archive.org

Thanks to Steven & Mike for the help in making it happen!

Stato

It doesn't seem like a minute since the last post regarding the initial statistics. In just over another month the traffic as Footy24/7 has continued to increase to over 1000 uniques per day generating several thousand page impressions.

Spam

Anywhere that allows comments is bound to get spammed at some point, but usually when anonymous comments aren't allowed it's usually easier to deal with. Even after implementing captcha on other drupal sites the scumbags still manage to get around it using scripts.

Listed in the MyopenID directory

What is openID? For the lengthy explanation check out the wikipedia definition here or a simpler one below:

Netvibes

I've become pretty reliant upon Netvibes now as my homepage across multiple machines. Previously I found it hard to keep on top of RSS feeds from home and work and Netvibes solves this problem perfectly as the like of bloglines just didn't cut it.

A great start

Footy 24/7 has had a much better start than expected. The site was only launched 2 months ago and already is getting 500+ uniques per day constantly now.

Traffic is from a mixture of sources but mostly search engines followed by RSS subscribers and links from other sites (cheers again for all the sites linking back to f247)
