Sir Alex Ferguson
finally names the long awaited successor for Carlos Queiroz.

Manchester United have named former midfielder Mike Phelan
as their new assistant manager. The 45-year-old replaces Carlos Queiroz, who
left Old Trafford in the summer to manage the Portugal national team, while
Rene Meulensteen succeeds Phelan as first-team coach.
