Dean Ashton Retires

Dean Ashton has finally announced his long rumoured retirement from football.

West Ham United CEO Scott Duxbury said,

"This is a sad day and our thoughts are with Dean. I would like to place on record our thanks to him for all his efforts and wish him the very best. I would also like to thank the fans for their patience and understanding during what has been a difficult time."

Ashton never really fully recovered from the broken ankle he picked up in training whilst on duty with England in August 2006. It is obviously a sad day for Dean Ashton and a big loss to West Ham
